Spanish with Mrs. Hartman

  • Hola!! Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year!! My name is Senora Hartman, and I am so excited to be your child’s Spanish teacher on Tuesdays at The Rock. I am looking forward to meeting all of you and I can’t wait to embark on this amazing journey of teaching them so many fun things in one of my favorite languages. We will be using the Sonrisas curriculum, which has been used by Senora Rodriguez. Returning students will be familiar with this curriculum, and I know they will be of great assistance to our new students. This year we will learn about different areas around the world where Spanish is spoken. Students will learn days of the week, months of the year, seasons, the alphabet, conversational Spanish and so much more. We will use songs, dances, art, and various other things to make this a fun and exciting learning environment. I will always encourage, invite, or ask for volunteer students to help with songs, oral presentations, etc, however, it is not required. I will take into consideration any students that may have special needs or require extra assistance, as I want all students to feel at ease. Learning a second language may sound hard or scary to some, but I promise to do my best to make it a fun, loving and enjoyable journey for all.

MS Spanish with Mrs. Rodriguez

  • For the upcoming school year, we will be partnering with Sonrisas Spanish to bring you a fun filled Spanish learning experience. Through the application of Sonrisas Spanish students will have the opportunity to engage in three modes of communication interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational to increase both verbal and written skills. Students will be given opportunities throughout each lesson to engage in conversation, provide and obtain information, and express feelings and opinions. They will be asked to present information, concepts, and ideas to both listeners and readers. Students will also be asked to engage in meaningful communication that reinforces and develops their knowledge of other disciplines through language driven, content-based lessons. Each thematic unit aligns with an essential question that will connect students to their use of language in an intentional and meaningful way. The following is an example of a thematic unit, How do I experience the weather, climate, and seasons of my environment? Our Sonrisas curriculum we will help students acquire the language by providing comprehensible input in Spanish using gestures, illustration, everyday objects, artwork, and more. ¡ Vamos hablar Español!
