- For the upcoming school year, we will be partnering with Sonrisas Spanish to bring you a fun filled Spanish learning experience. Students will be given opportunities throughout each lesson to engage in conversation, provide and obtain information, and express feelings and opinions. They will be asked to present information, concepts, and ideas to both listeners and readers. Students will also be asked to engage in meaningful communication that reinforces and develops their knowledge of other disciplines through language driven, content-based lessons. Each thematic unit aligns with an essential question that will connect students to their use of language in an intentional and meaningful way. The following is an example of a thematic unit, How do I experience the weather, climate, and seasons of my environment? Our Sonrisas curriculum we will help students acquire the language by providing comprehensible input in Spanish using gestures, illustration, everyday objects, artwork, and more. ¡ Vamos hablar Español!

Thursday Pre-K-6th STEM Course Descriptions:
Pre-K with Mrs. Luevano
- Welcome to PreK with Mrs. Luevano! In our class we will cover many topics that introduce foundational knowledge and skills to prepare for kindergarten. We will cover a letter of the week, implementing a basic intro to phonics and penmanship. Math will include number identification, counting and learning all our basic shapes through hands on activities. Children and adults alike memorize and learn timeless truths by song! So in our class, singing and music will play a big part throughout our day ,whether it is to get our bodies moving or learning fun facts about what we are learning! Every week, our day will consist of math, reading/writing, Bible, art/music, science, geography, Spanish and activities that will cater to our kid’s fine and gross motor development.

Geography with Mrs. Hartman
- In this class we will be studying United States Geography. Students will work on learning all 50 states, their capitals and shapes, as well as locating them on a map. We will discuss regions, landforms, bodies of water, natural resources, state birds and flowers, important monuments and historical events. Games are always a plus to make learning fun. We will play Bingo and Snowman (in lieu of hangman) and work on puzzles and wordsearches. I would love for my students to learn and perform the Nifty 50 United States Song as part of our end of the year showcase. I know this may come easy to those who had the privilege of singing this song a couple of years ago with our memorable theater teacher, Mrs. Larsen.
Social/Emotional Development with Mrs. Hartman
- In this class we will learn about self-awareness, self-management, social-awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision making. I would love to see our students grow in areas that help them to be successful in their relationship with Christ, their parents, siblings, teachers, peers, and so on. Each week I will introduce a book and have a dialogue post reading. We will work on and review social/emotional skills and how we have put them to use. Sharing our strengths and weaknesses as a class will help us build a foundation for how we can help ourselves and others. My goal is to see students thrive in areas that have been a struggle and shine in the ones they have mastered.

MS/HS Greek with Mrs. Reuel
- This year in Greek class I will be teaching my class how to read and speak Koine Greek which is the New Testament version. I will use the book titled “Basics of Biblical Greek grammar” by William Mounce as well as use the “Greek and English Lexicon of the New Testament” by Frederick William Danker. I will also use the DVD information from “It’s not Greek to me” by Todd Friel. I will be teaching my students how to say the alphabet using the Urasmian pronunciation. We will find similar connections with English and learn some grammar as well. By the end of this class your student should be able to learn how Greek words work in the Bible and decipher a more clear Biblical understanding of the text. Knowing a bit of Biblical Greek can remarkably give a much deeper insight into the scriptures true interpretation, this leads to better exegesis and discernment. In fact, exegesis is the critical explanation or interpretation of a text, derived from the Greek word for “to lead out”. It will be my goal to gift your child with great edification, a stronger faith, and a closer relationship with God, all for the Glory of God, through understanding the basics of Biblical Greek.
