Pre-K with Mrs. Haker and Mrs. Larsen
The curriculum for our Pre-K students is Christ-centered and focuses on pre-emergent reading and writing as well as educational centers. Students will enjoy lessons with number and letter themes, explore the Spanish language, participate in science activities and experiments and have fun singing and moving during music time. We encourage the curiosity of children and to provide them with opportunities for their confidence to grow as they explore the world around them.
Our bodies are unique, wonderfully made, gifts from God! Join us on Mondays as we explore the human body. We will focus on nine human body systems; the skeletal, muscular, respiratory, circulatory, nervous, digestive, urinary, immune, and integumentary systems. As we explore each of these in detail, we will discern its purpose, main organs, specific functions, and how it works so that the body functions as God designed. Students record details learned from class activities and experiments in a science journal to see the wisdom of Psalm 139:14. (“I will offer You my grateful heart, for I am Your unique creation, filled with wonder and awe.”)
Hola! Bienvenidos a la clase de Español.
Hello! Welcome to the Spanish class, where students will learn basic concepts of the language. With any language, students begin by learning beginning phrases of reading, writing, and speaking. Students new to the language will focus on individual letter sounds. Returning students will strengthen their speaking with repetition of vocabulary, phrases, songs, and fun games. We will be using the Sonrisas curriculum and other Spanish books in each grade level. An integral part of this Spanish curriculum is exploring the cultures of Mexico and Central America. The ultimate goal is to make Spanish language learning fun and interactive.
All students will work this year towards learning an instrument and performing in both a holiday and end of year performance.
We will begin with reviewing/learning the basics on the ukulele and violin. Students will be divided into Orchestra and Symphony groups, depending on age and instrument.
Students will need to be prepared to rent or purchase either a violin or ukelele based on age/grade. More details to follow.
Mrs. Martz-Physical Education
This year’s fitness class at the Round Rock campus will focus on “functional training” and the basic fundamental gross and fine motor skills needed for physical and mental development. Some other tasks to be emphasized include sportsmanship, teamwork, and cooperation to understand integrity better. Implementing these traits helps build your student’s character, physical strength, and coordination for everyday life activities. As fun “functional” fitness increases this year, the student will understand health-related vs. skill-related fitness. This awareness emphasizes training for today, tomorrow, and beyond, inquiring a lifetime of skills.
Art- from God’s Perspective
Art is not just for the sake of art! Art has purpose! God had a purpose when He created all the beautiful things we see around us! He gave us our wonderful imagination’s created in His image! This year we will focus on understanding art through God’s eyes! Students will have the opportunity to hear what God is saying to them and how He sees them! How great are the thoughts of God towards His children! More numerous than the grains of sand! Psalm 139:16-18Children will discover classic artists, reading theater, and also how art brings heaven to Earth for God’s purposes!
Thank you for allowing me to partner with you in the education of your children! This year is going to be an amazing year!
