Hello RR TREA families,We are continuing our study of the body by learning about the digestive system. This week we experimented with peristalsis. We learned we don’t need gravity to swallow. Each student used a straw to push "food" through their "esophagus." Have your student explain how they swallow food and have them tell you the path food takes in their body.
Questions to ask:
1. Where does digestion begin?
2. How does digestion begin in the mouth? (Teeth, saliva, tongue)
3. What is the "food tube" called?
4. What role does the stomach, small intestine and large intestine play in digestion?
Thank you for sharing your students with me!
Have a wonderful week!
Mrs. Cecil
