CP Music 1/18

Hi!All grades jumped into the new year drumming and playing rhythm patterns to literature such as "Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day" and "Rumble in the jungle.". Grades 1-6 begin with choral vocal warm ups and we are adding songs to our music folders, including "O Susanna" and "My Grandfather’s clock.". K-2 sing silly songs about meatballs and spaghetti, pop goes the weasel, A sailor went to sea, and other fun classics. We survive the rain and cold with cat and mouse parachute games, duck, duck goose etc.
Homework for grades 3-6:
Always bring RECORDERS to class.
Each student has a recorder song for homework. 3 steps to practice:
1. Write the names of the notes on the sheet under each note. Remember the rhyme Every good boy deserves fudge, reading from the bottom line of the staff up. This ensures that we are learning to read the treble staff.
2. Tap your toe to make sure you understand the rhythm.
3. Play the song
How to pass off song:
1. Play it for the class, tapping your toe to the beat. You will earn a sticker to put on your folder or recorder.
NOTE:. It will take some students several weeks to pass off a song. This is okay! Students progress at different rates. When you think you are ready, we will have time each week for pass offs. Memorizing not required.
Have a great week!
