Music Classes Jan 6th and Character K/1

Hello!
I want to start with a HUGE THANK YOU for all the cards and Christmas gifts. I have felt such a warm welcome at Rock Enrichment. You are all so kind 🙂 Also, I want to say how proud I am of each student for performing with enthusiasm at the Christmas performances. Great job everyone!

This past Wednesday and next week are all about Mozart.
WRITING HOMEWORK for grades 3-6: We discussed how Mozart would create a simple melodic theme and then compose 12 or more variations on that one theme. (example: Twinkle, Twinkle little star melody). I would like you to think about how you can take a simple chore or mundane task and put a variation or twist on it to make it more interesting. Example: Your mom asks you to deliver the clean laundry to each bedroom. That is the main theme. Variation 1: You set a timer and race against the timer to see how fast you can deliver the laundry. Variation 2: You invite your brother to take some of the piles and you race against each other. Variation 3: You pretend each bedroom is a different part of the world and you explore the world as you deliver laundry. ……. Get creative with this! I think Mozart is a great example of taking something ordinary and making it extraordinary, and thinking outside the box.
LISTENING HOMEWORK: Here is the classics for kids Mozart page with links to listening to Mozart’s music:

Character Building K/1:
We discussed Abigail from the Bible, who was able to stop a fight between her husband and King David. We discussed how we can be peacemakers.
Have a great week!
